Node4 – Northampton Data Centre

Due to the growth of Exchequer Dynamics and its customers’ requirements, the company now owns its own Cloud solutions centre in the Node4 Tier III datacentre in Northampton. It is a state of the art data centre for servers and the hosted application cloud which will provide customers with the security and speed they need.

Location

The Node4 Data Centre is built to Tier 3 specifications and features 41,000 square feet of raised flooring and has a total capacity of around 720 racks, which makes it one of the largest data centres in the country. Node4 is the ideal solution for colocation and managed hosting, not only is it state of the art, but it’s also just a very handy few minutes from our technical centre in Rushden.

Security

The data centre has perimeter fencing and CCTV coverage points on all internal and external entry and exit points, as well as between rack aisles from which images are recorded and stored. The centre operates a strict photo ID swipe card entry system for access to the building along with overhead secure network cabling and caged storage. Security gates with anti-tailgating pod as well as onsite 24/7 security to prevent unauthorised access to racks.

Power

A continuous source of power is essential to any data centre. The centre in Northampton has a resilient power backup consisting of generators and UPS systems, this ensures a consistent source of power to the data centres. The environment is constantly tested and monitored. At rack level, up to 32 amps of dual fed power can be provided. The power infrastructure carries with it a 100% service level guarantee. The data centre itself features 4MVA of power split into 4 x 2MVA HV supplies (N+N). Flexible power with up to 32 amps dual-feed per rack can also be provided from separate transformers, panel boards and UPS sub-systems.

Environment

The data centre is fully monitored and implements N+2 free cooling glycol-based chillers, N+N high-efficiency CRAC units, N+N humidification and a cold aisle containment system. It is also equipped with the latest fire protection provided by an IG55 gas suppression system. This means we are alerted at the earliest possible sign of fire by continually drawing air into a pipe network attached to a detector unit on a wall.

Connectivity

Dedicated internet connections are available along with site-to-site connectivity to link up multiple business sites into the Northampton data centre. A PSTN breakout is also available through the SIP trunking solution. Node4 is carrier-neutral and the data centre benefits from being part of a core MPLS network with resilient connections to Telehouse, Global Switch and Telecity.
